More than a green label

Being a green venue means more than a sign at the entrance or an EV charger. It means concrete, recurring action within a process of continuous improvement — day after day, year after year.

Green energy investment — 130 kW

01

Green energy investment — 130 kW

Green energy is a long-term strategic direction: Hotel Astoria has ambitious ESG (Environment – Social – Governance) performance goals.

In 2025 the hotel expanded its photovoltaic capacity from 40 kW to 130 kW, reducing grid dependence and the associated CO₂ emissions. The pool water is heated with solar energy.

Eco-friendly salt filtration

02

Eco-friendly salt filtration

The 336 m² pool — the largest in the county — uses salt-based water filtration instead of harsh chlorine, significantly reducing chemical use and environmental impact.

Salt filtration also makes resource use more efficient: the water needs fewer replacements and chemical treatments, cutting chemical waste and the hotel’s footprint.

Sustainable mobility

03

Sustainable mobility

The hotel has expanded its electric fleet for day-to-day operations, replacing fossil-fuel cars with zero-emission vehicles.

Also in 2025 the venue upgraded its EV charging stations in the car park — available to guests too.

Invisible solutions, visible impact

04

Invisible solutions, visible impact

Once an abandoned plot next to industrial sites, the land around Hotel Astoria has become a true ecosystem: 10,500 m² of green space, a fish lake, many endemic bird species, 140+ trees and shrubs and our own orchard.

Footpaths and parking use permeable eco-paving (Petra Pavaje) for optimal rainwater drainage, with an ideal balance between paved and green areas.

Education for future generations

The “Green School” education programme

Every year Hotel Astoria partners with schools and kindergartens for their “Green Week” projects, hosting open lessons in environmental education.

„We believe sustainability starts with education. That is why we open our gates to inspire future generations and teach them why protecting the environment matters.”
